Faded cowl panels, chalky mirror caps, dried door seals—black plastics and rubber age fast. COMEBLACK Plastic & Rubber Trim Coating is D-Tail Lab’s answer: a water-based, SiO₂-enhanced coating that restores color, adds UV protection, and lays down a hydrophobic shield on plastic, vinyl, and rubber—inside and out.
What is COMEBLACK?
COMEBLACK blends PDMS (silicone), polymer resins, and SiO₂ in a water-based formula to:
- Deepen color on dried or faded plastics and rubber
- Add UV protection to help slow future fading
- Repel water and grime with a hydrophobic effect
- Outlast typical dressings without the sticky residue
Sizes: 500 ml, 4 L, 20 L.
Directions (quick)
- Prep: Deep clean plastics/rubber (APC + brush), rinse, and fully dry.
- Apply: Use an applicator or microfiber; work evenly until absorbed.
- Level: Wipe any excess, especially on textured plastics.
- Dry: Keep dry/dust-free as it sets. Heavily weathered pieces may need a second pass.
- Interior use: Dilute up to 1:3 (product:water) for dashboards, vinyl, and interior plastics.
- Exterior use: Use it pure on the plastic trims and tires to restore them
Where COMEBLACK shines
- Exterior plastics: bumper inserts, mirror housings, wiper cowls, roof rails, textured plastics
- Rubber & tires: sidewalls and exterior rubber trim
- Interiors (diluted 1:3): dashboards, vinyl & plastic trims, door panels, door jambs
Pros & Cons :
Advantages
- Versatile: exterior full-strength; interior use when diluted
- Non-greasy finish that resists dust
- Hydrophobic + UV protection for easier maintenance
- Available in pro-friendly sizes
Limitations
- Not a permanent ceramic trim coating—periodic re-application is normal
- Contains silicone (PDMS)—degrease thoroughly before repainting or applying a pro ceramic trim coating later
D-Tail Lab alternatives & pairings (beyond COMEBLACK)
If you want longer durability or a different finish, here’s how our lineup compares and complements COMEBLACK.
1) Maximum longevity on plastics & rubber: CERAMI-X META
A reactive nano-ceramic trim coating that chemically bonds to plastics/rubber for coating-level protection and color depth. Designed for strong UV and contamination resistance and longer service life (with proper prep and maintenance).
- Best for: Severely faded exterior trim, cowls, mirror caps, roof rails needing a durable, coating-grade solution
- Trade-off: More prep and cure time than COMEBLACK; follow coating steps
2) Versatile restore/protect with interior option: COMEBLACK (baseline)
Water-based PDMS/polymer + SiO₂ trim coating that deepens color, adds UV protection, and sheds water. Use full-strength outside; dilute up to 1:3 for interiors. Easier and more forgiving than ceramic trim coatings.
3) Dressings for tone/shine control
- PHOENIX Multi-Purpose Dressing – Versatile in/out on plastics, vinyl, leatherette with UV protection; choose when you want a rich dressed look without going ceramic.
- DRESS 2 IMPRESS (Water-based) – Gloss-forward, conditioning finish for interior plastic/rubber/vinyl—ideal for showroom interiors.
- Mr. RUBBERT McTIRE (Solvent-based) – High-gloss tire dressing designed to dry fast and help reduce sling. Reserve for tires.
4) Quick maintenance toppers
- QUICX Ceramic Detailing Spray – Rapid SiO₂ boost for hydrophobics, gloss, and UV on paint, gloss plastics, wheels, and more. Great for refreshing look and beading after cure.
- PRODIGY Hybrid SiO₂ Wet-Coat – Spray-on, rinse-off protection for paint (and surrounding areas) in the same wash cycle; ideal time-saver when you’ve just restored trims.

- Deep clean first: Use an APC (e.g., PLASMA) and a soft brush to remove old dressings and embedded grime. Rinse and fully dry.
-
Pick your protection path:
- Need coating-grade durability? Choose CERAMI-X META.
- Want versatility & ease inside & out? Choose COMEBLACK (dilute 1:3 for interiors).
- Finish & maintain: Tires with Mr. RUBBERT McTIRE; quick gloss/hydrophobics with QUICX after cure; interior sheen with DRESS 2 IMPRESS or PHOENIX.
Safety notes: Avoid pedals, steering wheels, and fabrics (slip/staining risk). Test in a hidden spot first.
The bottom line
